Pa. paratransit users concerned about coming changes
The Westmoreland County Transit Authority is set to consolidate its paratransit system to one provider, National Express, which has some users worried about the future of its Senior Shared Ride Program.
GREENSBURG, Pa. — With the Westmoreland County Transit Authority set to consolidate its paratransit system to one provider, National Express, some users are worried about the future of a Senior Shared Ride Program, TribLive reported.
The program, which provides door-to-door transportation to senior citizens 65 and older, is funded through PennDOT and allows seniors to use taxi cabs at a reduced rate.
Until now, the program divided the county between three operators, including National Express, however as of July 1 users could expect to be serviced by just the one operator once they take over the contract. For the full story, click here.
