Pittsburgh's Port Authority of Allegheny County will unveil its new trip planner on its Website Saturday. The planner, available on www.ridegold.com, will allow riders to map out a trip by using an address, bus stop or landmark. Users can create up to six travel itineraries, which can be customized to reflect the customer's preference, such as walking distance to/from stops, length of trip and the necessity for transfers. Travel time estimates and detour information will be included if applicable. "This [planner] makes a wealth of current information available in an easy-to-use format, and it will be very helpful to new customers while offering current customers travel alternatives they might not have considered," said Dennis Veraldi, Port Authority acting CEO. The planner also includes a schedule finder, which gives customers quick access to timetables for any selected bus or rail route. The stop-finder function helps users find a bus stop within a half-mile of a particular location.
