Q'Straint announced today that its automatic rear-facing wheelchair securement station, Quantum, is now available for buses and other transportation companies. This announcement comes after years of research and development and successful field tests. The self-securement process takes less than 25 seconds, and does not require the driver to leave his or her seat to help.
"The time savings alone is a huge benefit. With systems that are not self-securing, the driver has to make sure that the passenger is secured properly and this can take several minutes, which ultimately delays the bus routes," says Jean-Marc Girardin, founder of Q'Straint. "This system is truly an industry changer - it promotes safety and independence, and gives the passenger a greater sense of dignity."
Quantum's launch comes at a time that coincides with the 25th anniversary of the American Disabilities Act (ADA).
"We are very proud to launch the Quantum during the anniversary of the ADA as we believe that this product is the first to not only meet the letter of the law, but to finally meet the spirit of the law and further the mission of independence," says Girardin.
