Lyft has teamed up with the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) to launch local public transit information in-app — allowing riders to see upcoming departures for MTS buses and trolleys along with e-scooter and rideshare options.

With the new transit feature, riders can easily see transit lines and approaching vehicles on the map or they can simply enter a destination for a complete itinerary from start to finish. For nearby destinations, Lyft shows walking directions alongside transit, e-scooter, and rideshare options.

“This is inherently a great partnership for MTS,” said Sharon Cooney, the transit system’s CEO. “One of MTS’ goals is to improve mobility options for our riders. Integrating transit information into the Lyft app will provide a new level of confidence for riders to move seamlessly between all the different options available.”

MTS continues to operate about 95 bus routes and three trolley lines. The transit agency’s frequencies and spans have been restored to near-pre-COVID-19 levels.

Lyft’s Transit feature is now available in 17 cities across North America, including New York City, Chicago, and Portland, with more planned through 2021, as riders increasingly seek flexibility.
