Stertil-Koni, a supplier of heavy duty vehicle lifts, was awarded a contract with the City of El Paso Mass Transit Department, known as Sun Metro, to produce and install 18 high-capacity, heavy duty vehicle lifts.

Specifically, the contract purchase calls for Stertil-Koni to deliver two of the company’s lifting systems. Selected were: ECOLIFT, the industry’s first U.S. patented, ultra shallow, full-rise scissor in-ground lifting system, according to the company; and, SKYLIFT – an industry-changing platform lift distinguished by an entirely vertical rise lifting system which utilizes two independent runways with no crossbeams, no overhang and no base frame.

Sun Metro has ordered two models of the ECOLIFT, a two-scissor configuration with lifting capacity of 60,000 lbs. — ideal for regular transit buses —  and a three-scissor configuration with lifting capacity of 90,000 lbs., well designed for the extended length of articulated buses.

Sun Metro has also ordered two models of SKYLIFT — each with a lifting capacity up to 78,000 lbs. One model is a wash bay SKYLIFT, engineered to be completely water-resistant with hot-dip galvanized platforms, lift supports with an extremely resistant maritime epoxy coating along with a watertight, lockable stainless steel control box. Lifts are scheduled to be installed beginning in the first half of 2013. For added safety, the Stertil-Koni equipment is third-party tested and validated by ALI/ETL-Interk.

The City of El Paso award to Stertil-Koni follows two other recent major transit awards to the company. These include a bid from the Chicago Transit Authority, awarded for the production and installation of 54 heavy duty vehicle lifts, and an extensive installation of hydraulic, self-regenerating mobile columns lifts, as well as in-ground lifts, delivered to GO Transit in Canada.
