The high cost of diesel fuel has caused the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) to raise fares on its buses and trains for the second time in three months.
The two-hour tab for buses and TRAX light rail increased 25 cents, to $2, on July 1, but will now jump to $2.25 on Oct. 1. Meanwhile, a monthly bus or TRAX pass will go up $8, to $74.50 and monthly FrontRunner cards will rise $15, to $175. A specially scheduled paratransit ride for disabled customers will jump to $2.75, from $2.50.
