Via, a provider of technology for government transit systems, recently announced the formation of a Mayors Council to bring together “forward-thinking city leaders and advance best practices in modern mobility.”

The Council will be chaired by mayors Paul TenHaken of Sioux Falls, SD, and Andy Berke of Chattanooga, TN. Former Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop will serve as President of the Council. Inaugural members include Mayor Martha Guerrero from West Sacramento, CA, former Mayor Levar Stoney from Richmond, VA, former Mayor Shelley Brindle from Westfield, NJ, and former Mayor G.T Bynum from Tulsa, OK.

According to a release, the council will support mayors nationwide by sharing strategies and insights to help cities maximize the impact of transit technology. The council’s leadership has a track record of spearheading innovation in public transit and represents diverse communities across the country.

“We are incredibly excited to partner with this outstanding group of mayors,” said Daniel Ramot, Via’s co-founder and CEO. “In our work with cities across the country, we have witnessed firsthand the important role that efficient and affordable public transit can play in driving economic growth and opportunity. At a time when the industry is advancing rapidly, this is the right moment to convene a group of forward-thinking leaders to facilitate meaningful change.”

“Investing in transit offers a meaningful opportunity for city leadership to have a lasting impact on the community,” said former Mayor Steven Fulop. “I look forward to partnering with Via and my co-chairs to build this Council, and to collaborating with my peers to share best practices and lessons on funding and implementing transit innovation.”

Via’s technology powers public transit systems for hundreds of cities in more than 30 countries worldwide. Leveraging billions of transit-specific data points, Via’s software enables governments to design and operate “smarter, more efficient, and higher-quality” transit networks.

The announcement of the Mayors Council comes on the heels of Via's initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange on September 12, 2025.
