The South West Transit Association (SWTA) presented San Antonio's VIA Metropolitan Transit with a Hit the Spot award for the agency’s launch of a mobile application for smartphones earlier this year.
The award was presented to VIA at the 2013 SWTA Transit Marketing and Spotlight Awards held in Tucson, Ariz. September 9 to 11. The Hit the Spot award is given by SWTA to recognize outstanding work for single and/or new transit marketing projects.
VIA’s app “Go via VIA,” which was launched in June, won first place in the Social Media category. The app is available to users of iPhones and Android devices, and can be downloaded for free at the App Store and Google Play. The app provides access to core rider tools, such as real-time bus arrival information (with an alert feature), trip planning, system maps, route schedules, and information on fares and passes.
