Washington State converts to electric buses with ZEPS

The State of Washington's Department of Enterprise Services awarded Complete Coach Works (CCW) the Electric Heavy-Duty Vehicles Statewide Master Contract.
Using CCW's Zero Emission Propulsion System (ZEPS) buses allows the conversion of diesel or compressed natural gas buses to all-electric transit buses powered by lithium ion batteries. The conversion allows agencies to reuse a familiar chassis for older buses, while reducing landfill pollution by 10 tons of raw material per bus.
Adoption of ZEPS is another step Washington is taking in using more electricity and reducing its carbon footprint. Washington State is also home to the largest hydroelectric plant in the United States, where 70% of its electricity is produced by hydro facilities.
