U.S. Transportation Secretary Norm Mineta today called upon the nation's high school students to design a Website that will introduce their peers to career possibilities in the transportation field. "It is crucial that we help encourage America's young people to examine the many career opportunities available in transportation," Mineta said. The theme for the Website contest is "Exciting Career Opportunities in Transportation." The entry deadline is March 15, 2002, and the winners will be announced in April 2002. There will be regional and national team winners. Winners will receive a certificate and winning Websites will be linked to the Garrett A. Morgan Technology and Transportation Futures Program Website. A panel of judges composed of prominent individuals in the fields of transportation and education will review the sites selected for final judging. The contest guidelines and additional information about the contest are available on the Internet at education.dot.gov.
