NEW ORLEANS — Regional Transit Authority (RTA) officials said any tweaks to its Canal streetcar line will likely not take effect until at least September, if at all, The Times-Picayune reports.
Officials had previously said a temporary pilot program to speed up the streetcar by closing some passenger stops and vehicular turnarounds could come up for a vote as early as late next month. However, at a committee meeting this week, the RTA’s Interim Executive Director Jared Munster stressed that any possible changes to the streetcar line are the subject of studies at this point and not being worked into a formal pilot program.
