GILLIG Lauds 9 Transit Partners Who Land Low-No Grants

Eight of these grants will be utilized to purchase GILLIG zero-emission battery electric buses and associated charging infrastructure, while the ninth will be utilized to deploy advanced low-emission diesel-electric hybrid buses.

GILLIG LLC announced that nine of its transit agency partners have been awarded grants under the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Low or No Emission Program (Low-No). Eight of these grants will be utilized to purchase GILLIG zero-emission battery electric buses and associated charging infrastructure, while the ninth will be utilized to deploy advanced low-emission diesel-electric hybrid buses.

“We congratulate our partner agencies on their awards, and we are honored by the trust they have placed in GILLIG,” said GILLIG President/CEO Derek Maunus. “Grant programs like this are crucial for helping communities reach their emission reduction goals.”

The FTA’s competitive Low-No Program helps fund the purchase or lease of zero-emission and low-emission transit buses and supporting facilities that use advanced technologies. GILLIG partnered with the nine winning transit agencies in completing their Low-No applications to secure funding.

Public transportation reduces the nation’s carbon emissions by approximately 37 million metric tons annually in the U.S., and low- and zero-emission buses play an important role in reducing congestion and contributing to a cleaner environment. GILLIG’s battery electric buses produce zero tailpipe emissions and hold up to 75 passengers, significantly reducing our carbon emissions footprint.
