WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following steps of other major public transit and transportation agencies across the U.S., the five major motorcoach, travel and tourism groups — the American Bus Association; the International Motor Coach Group; National Tour Association; Student & Youth Travel Association and the United Motorcoach Association — sent a joint letter, as well as a safety and security document prepared by the Bus Industry Safety Council (BISC), to all of its members urging them to step up security procedures in response to attacks that killed at least 132 people in Paris.

“Law enforcement officials currently say that there are no specific credible threats to transportation systems in the U.S., but we must increase our level of vigilance,” BISC said in a memo issuing post-Paris attack security procedures.
