AECOM to head Twin Cities light rail project
Contract services, valued at $91 million, include engineering and final design.
AECOM Technology Corp. will serve as prime consultant for the approximately $930-million Minneapolis-St. Paul Central Corridor Light Rail Transit project.
Experts from AECOM’s transportation practice area, led by DMJM Harris, are being supported by the company’s urban planning practice in managing the project, which has a total contract value of nearly $91 million.
Services will include preliminary engineering, final design and design-support services during construction. The Central Corridor project will integrate with the Hiawatha Light Rail Transit line, which currently serves Minneapolis’ business district, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and the Mall of America. Additionally, the railway will connect the University of Minnesota, the state Capitol complex and downtown St. Paul.
AECOM will work with the Twin Cities’ Metropolitan Council to develop community participation initiatives, minimize construction impacts to corridor stakeholders and implement context-sensitive design for the project.
