Alstom awarded $106M Indian contract
Company received its first rolling stock contract in India in 2010 by Chennai Metro Rail for the supply of 168 cars, with the first deliveries planned for the end of 2012.
India's Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. signed with Alstom, in consortium with Larsen & Tourbro, a $106 million contract for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of track-works in corridors I and II for the Chennai Metro.
The track work consists of an approximately 65-mile track length, including nine miles inside the depot at Koyambedu, and is slated to be completed by the end of 2013 for stage 1 and mid-2015 for stage 2 (tunnel section).
