Alstom's first Citadis Dualis tram-train for France's Western Lyon arrived at the L'Arbresles maintenance center last week.
Two additional Citadis Dualis trains will be delivered to the Rhône-Alpes region and to SNCF in the coming weeks. The three trains will then enter their certification phase on the Western Lyon lines to test current intake and measure electromagnetic emissions.
In May 2007, the Pays de la Loire and Rhône-Alpes regions ordered seven and twenty-four Citadis Dualis trains, respectively. The order is part of the contract between Alstom and the SNCF for the design and manufacture of 200 trains.
In March 2009, the Pays de la Loire region placed a first-phase conditional order for eight more trains. An option on 161 additional trains remains in effect.
Caltrain and its partners have implemented safety improvements at specific locations in response to known risk conditions, operational needs, and available funding since the agency’s founding.
