Alstom launches Citadis tramsets in France
Trams feature a low floor to provide easy access for persons with reduced mobility, air conditioning, video surveillance, visual information displays and spoken announcements.
The Citadis for the fourth tram line (T4) in Lyon, France came into commercial service last Monday, marking the sale of Alstom's 1,000th Citadis after 10 years on the market.
In 2007, Alstom signed a contract to supply Systral with 16 new Citadis tramsets (13 for phase 1 of the T4 line and three additional ones by 2013) in addition to the 60 already in operation in the city.
The trams feature a low floor to provide easy access for persons with reduced mobility,air conditioning, video surveillance, visual information displays and spoken announcements.
With 73 tramsets now in service, the Greater Lyon area has one of the largest Citadis tram fleets in the world. Alstom has been involved in the city’s urban transportation policy for more than 10 years.
