Alstom to equip Dutch rail
Will design and manufacture 161 IGBT traction systems to equip 81 trains for NedTrain, the company in charge of the service and maintenance of the Dutch Railway fleet. The contract is worth nearly $49 million.
NedTrain, the company in charge of the service and maintenance of the Dutch Railway fleet, selected Alstom Transport for the design and manufacturing of 161 IGBT traction systems to equip 81 regional trains.
The contract is worth nearly $49 million and covers the replacement of the existing GTO traction converter by a modern IGBT traction converter. The contract also includes the replacement of the traction motors.
These new and modern traction systems will improve interoperability with new signaling systems, solve obsolescence issues and ease maintenance.
The design, production and commissioning of these traction systems will be carried out at Alstom’s Ridderkerk, Netherlands location. Traction motors will be made at Alstom’s site in Ornans, France. The newly equipped trains will come into service in January 2012 on the Dutch Railway network.
