More than half a million passengers traveled on three California state-supported Amtrak train services in July (Capitol Corridor, San Joaquins and Pacific Surfliner), the most passengers Amtrak California has ever carried in a single month.

More than 100,000 passengers traveled the Amtrak San Joaquins services in July, a 32 percent increase over the previous year, while more than 300,000 passengers rode the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains, a rise of more than 12 percent compared to the same month last year.

Additionally, ridership on Capitol Corridor trains topped 160,000 passengers — an almost 33 percent jump from last July.

Overall, Amtrak ridership system-wide was also up for July with more than 2.7 million passengers, an increase of almost 14 percent over the same month last year.
