WICHITA, Kan. — The Atlantic Cities reported that Wichita Transit has raised fares and cut service to stay afloat as demand for the system increases. Riders are calling for improvements such as more frequent rush-hour service, a crosstown grid system that reduces travel time, longer operating hours, and route extensions. Those improvements would cost more than $25 million — twice the agency's current budget.
