Lime, Lightning eMotors, BYD, and The Routing Company recently announced news from their respective companies.
Lime, TransLink Collaborate on Mobility Options
Lime and TransLink announced a new initiative to enhance mobility options and promote sustainable transportation in Metro Vancouver.
The project will provide TransLink customers discounted rides on Lime’s shared electric vehicles at select stations on the Canada Line during TransLink’s scheduled maintenance periods.
The project will also provide communities with an alternative, sustainable means of travel at Richmond-Brighouse, Lansdowne, Aberdeen, and Bridgeport stations while TransLink continues with planned maintenance work at these stations.
A discount of 40% during Sept. 12 and Oct. 31 will be provided by Lime through a QR code placed at the stations.
Lightning eMotors to Send Shuttles to St. Louis Airport
Lightning eMotors announced it sold five Lightning ZEV4 shuttle buses to St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL).
STL partner SP Plus Parking (SP Plus) will operate the vehicles, transporting passengers between the airport’s two terminals.
The deal also includes five Level 2 chargers and one Level 3 DC fast charger, currently set for delivery later this year.
STL received a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 2023 Airport Zero-Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) and Infrastructure Pilot Program grant to help fund the purchase of the vehicles and chargers.
These grants are only available for the purchase of FAA Buy American-compliant vehicles.
To ensure its customers could access some of the more than $5 billion in available FTA/FAA funding, Lightning has certified the ZEV4 product line to be both FAA Buy American and FTA Buy America compliant.
Baton Rouge Buys BYD Electric Buses
CATS, the Capital Area Transit System in Baton Rouge, LA, announced it has welcomed six BYD | RIDE zero-emission buses to its fleet.
With the latest delivery, CATS will soon be operating a total of 15 battery electric BYD | RIDE buses.
Ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, all CATS buses come equipped with wheelchair lifts and various features designed to accommodate passengers with disabilities.
“We are grateful for our longstanding partnership with the Capital Area Transit System,” said Patrick Duan, Sr. vice president of BYD | RIDE. “With these repeat orders and their ongoing support, we are eager to continue providing sustainable transportation solutions to Baton Rouge.”
The newly acquired K7MER buses feature battery technology and offer two ADA wheelchair-complaint positions. These 30-foot electric buses have a seating capacity of up to 20 passengers and a working range of up to 196 miles.
