BusCon’s educational program has a number of sessions targeted toward the transit professional with topics covering paratransit, driver safety, procurement and grant funding.

Alternative fuels will also be addressed in a session led by Lynn McLean of the Flint (Mich.) Mass Transportation Authority on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 8:30am, where a case study on implementing propane autogas will be explored. Additionally, several electric buses from Via Motors, BYD Motors, Phoenix Cars and Zenith Motors will be on display in the exhibit hall. Phoenix and Zenith will also have vehicles available in the ride and drive.

Additional sessions from which transit operators can benefit include: “Transit Bus Procurement – Best Practices for a Successful RFP or IFB Process,” “What You Need To Know About Altoona Testing Updates,” “How the FTA’s Restructured Triennial Review Process Works,” and “How Developing Partnerships Can Help Cut Paratransit Costs.”

Transit operators will also enjoy the keynote address, “The Mental Edge” by Dr. Craig Manning, Olympic Sports Performance Psychologist and the Awards ceremony. Full descriptions for these sessions and more can be found on the full schedule page of the BusCon website.
