Calif.'s Amador Stage Lines wins environmental award
The award, given by the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, was in the category of Large Green Business, which recognizes companies with more than 100 employees that made a positive impact to protect the South Lake Tahoe environment.
Sacramento, Calif.-based Amador Stage Lines was named this year's winner of the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award for its efforts in the area of environmentalism.
The award, given by the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, was in the category of Large Green Business, which recognizes companies with more than 100 employees that made a positive impact to protect the South Lake Tahoe environment.
Amador estimates that each year its fleet of motorcoaches takes the equivalent of 40,000 cars off the Reno to South Lake Tahoe corridor. The company also adjusted its equipment to meet the seat requirements of the off-season, saving approximately 27,000 gallons in fuel, while carrying the same amount of passengers as the larger size equipment, and invested $8.6 million over the last four years to purchase 23 new vehicles with the latest clean air technology.
The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce represents approximately 650 businesses located in both the California and Nevada portions of the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.
