VACAVILLE, Calif. — Gov. Jerry Brown's budget plan, released last week, would spare transit operators, including Bay Area Rapid Transit and AC Transit from further cuts. However, state funding in many other areas may be cut, such as health care and social services, according to The Reporter.

While the news was good for state transit systems, Randy Rentschler, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, a transportation and planning agency for the nine Bay Area counties, warned that Brown's plan could have a $2.5 billion hole punched in it if state lawmakers don't give two-thirds approval by Nov. 2 to a fuel tax swap approved last year.
