QINHUANGDAO, China — China's electric “straddling bus" ran its inaugural test in Hebei province this week, BBC News reports.

The approximately 6.5-foot high Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) straddles the cars below, allowing them to pass through. It is able to carry up to 300 passengers in its 72 ft. long and 25 ft. wide body.

The vehicle is expected to reach speeds of up to about 37 miles per hour, running on rails laid along ordinary roads, with up to four TEBs able to be linked together. For the full story, click here.
