The city of Columbia, Mo. said that its Columbia Transit system will offer a trial period for Wi-Fi access on two city buses beginning this month.
The trial period will last 90 days and results will be used to determine if this is a viable service that should be continued.
Columbia's City Council reviewed and approved a plan in August 2009 to offer a trial period on two buses to see if this service is needed before investing in placing Wi-Fi on all city buses. At this time, there are no plans to initiate wireless service until the City Council has the opportunity to review the results and budget for future. Total cost for the three-month trial period is $180 plus $335 for initial setup and equipment.
