VANCOUVER, B.C. — The Vancouver Sun reported that the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) is asking Canada’s justice minister for stronger sentences for people who attack bus drivers.
The effort comes on the heels of a bus driver being punched in the face last week. That was the second unprovoked assault on a bus driver in Vancouver in a month, according to the newspaper. This latest attack brings the number of reported assaults in the Vancouver region so far this year to 42.
