WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Acting Director of the District’s Department of Transportation, Leif Dormsjo, said that the $200 million, 2.2-mile streetcar line could be scrapped entirely without ever picking up a paying customer, according to WTOP.
Previous leaders acquired vehicles and installed the track before the system was adequately designed, with the question now being how fixable those issues are, according to Dormsjo. He has brought in an outside team of light rail experts to determine whether the project can be saved.
