DENVER — Over the past three years, Denver Regional Transportation District has had a large increase in riders applying for half-price transit passes due to medical disabilities, denverpost.com reported. Joe Berdaus, RTD's senior manager of customer information, told denverpost.com that the increase may be due in part to social service agencies in the area stepping up efforts to get their clients enrolled in the transit agency’s disability pass program.

In January of this year, RTD issued 49.7 percent more discount disability cards than in the same month of 2010. For the full story, click here.
