Grande West Transportation Group Inc., a Canadian bus manufacturer of heavy-duty, mid-sized transit buses for sale in Canada and the U.S., announced that it has met Buy America certification requirements for the sale of its Vicinity bus in the U.S.

Buy America provisions ensure that transportation infrastructure projects are built with American-made products. This means that local, state, and Federal government investments in public transit are able to support an entire supply chain of American companies and their employees. The company has achieved the required 60% U.S.-component content through audits, documented final assembly procedures, and scored Best-in-Class in the FTA's Altoona Test to qualify for the certification.

Buy America status enables the company's exclusive U.S. distributor, Alliance Bus Group, to bid on all public transit opportunities in the U.S. with Vicinity 30- and 35-foot models.

"Buy America is another major milestone for the company and will provide us with continued sales momentum into the U.S. market in 2017 and beyond,” said William Trainer, CEO of Grande West. “We will continue to work on finalizing the business plan for our final assembly facility as ABG grows the sales backlog."
