Tom Waldron joined HDR as its transit market sector director, based in the New York City office. Waldron’s responsibilities include setting HDR's vision and initiatives for continued growth and expansion in transit across North America and globally.

Prior to joining HDR, Waldron served as Americas Transit & Rail director for AECOM, one of the largest multinational consulting firms in the transportation industry. During his career, he also served as the first GM for the Virginia Railway Express during start-up of the 90-mile commuter rail system serving northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Additionally, he has held staff positions at New Jersey Transit, Conrail and Futrex Inc.

With more than 35 years in the transit business, Waldron's diverse experience ranges from financing, development and design to construction, commissioning and operations for transit, passenger rail, freight and private developer clients in North and South America. He has also supported global initiatives in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and Asia, and has led successful implementation of new start transit systems, been engaged in developing innovative transportation technologies and spearheaded innovative approaches to alternative project delivery.
