ROCKFORD, Ill. — The Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) recently received a $191,641 New Freedom grant from the Federal Transit Administration to improve access to transportation for disabled people. The agency will use the funds to add 17 new bus shelters along key routes, rrstar.com reported.
The funds are especially helpful since RMTD is seeing a drastic increase in the number of riders in wheelchairs, as well as senior riders, boarding its buses. For the full story, click here.
