Bellwood, Ill.-based Kustom Seating Inc. (KSU) has been awarded contracts with Hyundai Rotem Company and Siemens Transportation System Inc.

For Hyundai, KSU will design and produce seating for 104 cars, with an immediate option for 16 additional cars. The new commuter railcars that Rotem will be manufacturing are for Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. KSU will be delivering the first three “pilot” cars of seats in the 3rd quarter of 2008, with full production beginning in the 2nd quarter of 2009.
Siemens Transportation Systems Inc. has exercised its option with KSU for an additional 55 Denver, LRV cars of seating to follow the current order of 34 cars. The company is also working on seating projects with various OEMs for other transit authorities, including DART-Dallas, VRE-Virginia Rail and Amtrak.
