L.A. Metro extends Veolia contract
Under the new contract will partner to invest in facility upgrades including a new Methane Detection System, additional bus bays for maintenance, additional office space and a more efficient inventory parts room.
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) awarded Veolia Transportation renewal of its contract to continue to operate transportation in the county’s north region. Service areas include Chatsworth, Studio City, Glendale, Burbank, Los Angeles and La Canada.
The award is a five-year contract for fixed-route service, effective August 2013 through August 2018.
Under the new contract Veolia will partner with the county to invest in facility upgrades including a new Methane Detection System, additional bus bays for maintenance, additional office space and a more efficient inventory parts room.
Veolia employs 130 and operates 56 of the county’s compressed natural gas vehicles, including 12 dedicated for special service, such as the popular Dodger Express Service, which provides transportation to the stadium. Veolia has been operating service for Metro since 2008.
