LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles transit supporters called for a change to a state law that requires at least two-thirds majority vote after Los Angeles County’s Measure J, a $90-billion transit sales tax extension, failed by 0.56 of a percentage point, Los Angeles Times reported.
The measure drew nearly three million votes. Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials told the paper that the measure would have allowed them to borrow against future tax revenue to build some projects faster. For the full story, click here.
