L.B. Foster wins Calif. orders
Delivery of CWR for Caltrain will begin in the late third quarter of this year, while delivery for Metrolink project is set to be completed during fourth quarter of 2008.
Pittsburgh-based L.B Foster Co. will supply continuous welded rail (CWR) services for two California transit projects.
In Northern California, L.B. will supply 1,812 tons of new rail for Caltrain, which will be used for future capital improvements on the 145-year-old railroad. Caltrain is owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board and runs from San Francisco to San Jose, with commuter-hour service to Gilroy.
Meanwhile, in Southern California, L.B. will supply 1,813 tons of new rail for the Southern California Regional Rail Authority's Metrolink Project in Los Angeles, to be used for future transit expansions.
Delivery of the CWR for Caltrain will begin in the late third quarter of this year, while delivery for the Metrolink project is set to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2008.
