Former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters was named to the board of directors of HDR, an employee-owned architectural, engineering and consulting firm with nearly 7,500 professionals in more than 165 locations worldwide.
Peters, who served as Secretary of Transportation from 2006 to 2009, also served as administrator of the Federal Highway Administration from 2001 to 2005, when she joined HDR as national director of transportation policy and consulting.
She will serve a one-year term and stand for re-election in 2010 and also provide consulting services to HDR on a limited basis.
The 17-mile RapidRide I Line will bring faster, more frequent service and improved regional connections across South King County.
