BOSTON — MBTA commuter rail riders can expect some weekend closures beginning next spring as the agency embarks on a $459 million project to install positive train control (PTC), The Telegram reports.
The agency plans to conduct installation work on two lines at a time beginning on the southern section of the system, beginning in April 2017. Ansaldo STS was awarded a $338 million contract for installing the technology last year, which MBTA plans to make operational by Dec. 31, 2020.
