The Transportation Association of Maryland (TAM), an association of rural and urban transportation providers, named two of Frederick, Md.’s TransIT drivers as the 2011 Best in State for both fixed-route and paratransit services.

Devin Naylor is Maryland’s “Fixed-Route Driver of the Year” and Tracy Carson is “Paratransit Driver of the Year.” This is the third consecutive year that a TransIT driver has won one of the two designations.

Naylor and Carson were nominated for this statewide recognition after being selected as TransIT’s Fixed Route Driver of the Year based on a safe driving record, exceptional attendance, positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.

They were honored at the TAM awards luncheon held during the annual conference in Hagerstown, Md., in September where they received personalized TAM jackets and plaques.

Naylor drives TransIT’s Connector Routes. On average, he drives 500 miles each week transporting the general public, senior citizens and customers with disabilities to employment, medical appointments, shopping and other locations. He was recognized for nine years of safe driving, reliability and excellent customer service.

As a paratransit driver, Carson drives up to 900 miles per week, transporting senior citizens and persons with disabilities to and from doctor appointments, dialysis treatments, work sites, social trips and school. She was recognized for her outstanding teamwork, customer service, professional attitude, flexibility and dedication in serving the public.

The 2011 Drivers of the Year continue a tradition of excellence that TransIT is proud to recognize. TransIT Drivers of the Year regularly earn recognition by the Transportation Association of Maryland. In addition, TransIT drivers are frequently commended by customers and peers for their exemplary performance.
