Mich.'s TheRide re-launches bike-share program with new operator
Shift Transit is a full-scale operator of bike-share systems, currently operating in Detroit, Toronto, Tucson, and Chattanooga.

The Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (TheRide), the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority, the City of Ann Arbor, and the University of Michigan jointly announced that ArborBike, Ann Arbor’s bike-sharing program, will return with Shift Transit as the new operator.
“Bike-sharing is a key piece of the community transportation system.” said Steve Dolen, executive director, Logistics, Transportation, & Parking, for the University of Michigan. “Relaunching ArborBike with Shift Transit provides a great mobility option for the campus community that helps reduce parking demand, vehicle emissions, dependency on single occupancy vehicles, plus supports the university's MHealthy initiative.”
“We believe, as a partnership of community institutions, that ArborBike is a crucial link in the overall transportation network between the University campus, downtown, and neighborhoods near downtown,” said Chris Simmons, business services program manager for TheRide. “We are looking forward to leveraging the expertise of Shift Transit to take ArborBike to the next level of productivity.”
Shift Transit is a full-scale operator of bike-share systems, currently operating in Detroit, Toronto, Tucson, and Chattanooga. Shift Transit operates 475 stations and 4,850 bicycles across North America where members took over 1.6 million trips in 2017 and are quickly approaching two million trips in 2018.
