COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri University representatives on the City of Columbia’s Transit System Task Force warned Mayor Bob McDavid that his plan to subsidize the city bus system through an increased student fee will be a tough sell, Columbia Daily Tribune reported.
McDavid told the Tribune that if Columbia Transit is not reconfigured to generate more revenue, the city could be forced to cut $800,000 worth of funding to the system in the next fiscal year. City leaders have focused on college students — currently the heaviest users of city buses — for extra revenue and ideas to restructure the system to serve their needs.
