MTM Transit recently announced the launch of Wanda in St. Louis, a transportation service designed to provide reliable transportation to seniors and individuals with disabilities. The program specifically focuses on individuals who do not qualify for resources like Medicaid and Medicare non-emergency transportation.
What is Wanda?
Wanda allows individuals to stay connected with their communities, friends, and families, and is a vital resource to maintain independence and enhance quality of life. The program also lessens the burden on caregivers with a focus on convenience, affordability, and safety.
The service can be used to secure transportation to medical appointments, social outings, grocery shopping, and more.
Phoenix and Tucson were the home of successful launches of Wanda in early 2024. Arizona users have benefited from the service’s dependable performance, user-friendly online booking system, and customer service.
With a strong foundation, MTM has been improving Wanda’s offerings to prepare for a larger nationwide rollout. In addition to transportation services, Wanda offers other caregiver support services such as meal and grocery delivery, and home modifications with more to come.
"Our goal is to ensure that seniors and individuals with disabilities have access to safe and reliable transportation that keeps them connected to the people and activities they love,” said MTM's President/CEO Alaina Macia. "The success we've seen in Arizona has shown us how impactful Wanda can be, and we're excited to expand its reach, starting in our hometown."
Enabling Independence
With easy ride booking through it’s online portal, riders and caregivers can use Wanda to schedule trips with just a few taps. Account owners can book and manage rides on behalf of others to make the service beneficial for busy caregivers and families.
Wanda helps address gaps in transportation services in St. Louis and helps bridge social divides to allow seniors and people with disabilities remain in their homes.
MTM’s mission is to eliminate barriers to healthcare and other essential services for underserved populations, and they are using Wanda to help achieve this.
Local residence are invited to experience the difference Wanda can make in their daily lives.
