N.J. eligible for $128M rail tunnel refund

NEW YORK — U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood agreed to return $128 million to New Jersey — nearly half the $271 million the state owes the federal government for canceling the proposed Access to the Region’s Core commuter rail tunnel project — once the money is repaid to replenish other state transportation accounts that were depleted to finance the project plans, according to a letter to Sen.
