NEW YORK CITY — Gov. Andrew Cuomo is pushing for the construction of a $450 million AirTrain to the subway and Long Island Rail Road, AMNewYork reported.
LaGuardia lacks a direct connection to the city’s extensive subway system, forcing airline passengers to rely on a patchwork of public and private buses, taxis and cars, the report said.

According to Cuomo, the proposed 1.5-mile AirTrain line would follow the Grand Central Parkway and connect with the No. 7 subway line and LIRR at Willets Point, which is a roughly 30- minute trip from midtown transit hubs.
The project, which would be a joint effort from the Port Authority and the MTA, will be paid for with funds from a $5 billion state surplus, according to AMNewYork.
