NYPD to beef up subway security after recent slashings

NEW YORK CITY — New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner William Bratton introduced a new plan Wednesday to deploy an NYPD officer on every subway train at night in response to recent slashing incidents, reported ABC7 NY.
The officers will patrol each train, car by car, according to the report.
When the train comes in, the conductor announces that there are police, and one officer enters each car to make sure no crimes are being committed. Commissioner Bratton said it worked "very successfully" in 1990, ABC7 NY reported.
