Syndicat des Transports d’lle de France (STIF) has awarded a contract to Parsons to provide high-level technical and strategy advice regarding a new technology signaling system to be deployed on the western extension of the RER line E, part of the high-profile “EOLE” project.
This contract is part of a transportation plan for a Parisian rail transit network recently approved by the French government. One of the objectives of this plan is to improve the punctuality of the train services by upgrading the signaling systems.
STIF was particularly interested in Parsons’ experience in advising major transportation authorities around the world regarding resignaling projects using modern technology train control systems as well as the firm’s ability to capture business requirements and analyze different technical solutions while focusing on the anticipated benefits of the new systems, Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC), and the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS).
STIF, the transportation authority for the Paris region (rail, road, and water transportation), organizes and funds most of the region's transportation projects.
