San Antonio’s VIA wins streetcar court case
A county judge reaffirmed a ruling that an opponent of the project should have to pay a multimillion-dollar bond if he wants to appeal the transit system's earlier legal victory allowing it to issue debt to fund several projects.
AUSTIN, Texas — San Antonio Express-News reported that a Travis County Court judge reaffirmed a ruling on Tuesday that an opponent of VIA Metropolitan Transit’s streetcar project should have to pay a multimillion-dollar bond if he wants to appeal the transit system's earlier legal victory allowing it to issue debt to fund several projects.
Judge Stephen Yelenosky set the bond amount at $3.855 million, which accounts for the additional money VIA would probably have to pay in increased interest rates and construction fees the longer it waits to issue the debt for the projects. For the full story, click here.
