Transdev will begin operations on a contract for approximately 20% of the Denver Regional Transportation District’s (RTD) Access-a-Ride paratransit system, which provides about 719,000 annual trips.

Transdev operations are scheduled to begin Oct. 1 for the Access-a-Ride program, serving Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson counties in the Denver Metro region. Transdev currently operates 20% of RTD’s fixed-route bus system.

In the long-term, the company plans to provide a new facility for the service.

The five-year deal with RTD’s Access-a-Ride expands upon Transdev’s operations throughout Colorado. In addition to the fixed-route contract with RTD, the company recently began fixed-route and paratransit operations in Grand Junction. Last year, Transdev began a transit maintenance contract in Colorado Springs.

The new contract also continues a company-wide trend of paratransit renewals and awards in major metropolitan cities across the country, including the Atlanta Metro region, Phoenix, Detroit, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Baltimore.
