The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) awarded Trillium a five-year contract to provide ultra-low carbon renewable natural gas (RNG) for two of its bus depots.

Under the agreement, which includes the option to extend up to three additional years, Trillium will provide Metro over 20 million gallons of RNG.

The agreement aligns with Metro’s goal to further reduce the carbon emissions from its entire bus fleet. The agency’s buses fueled by Trillium’s RNG will reduce smog-forming nitrogen oxides to 90% lower than the EPA limit and remove up to 1 million metric tons of greenhouse gases over the five-year term compared to traditional diesel buses. This is the equivalent of removing 550,000 passenger vehicles from the road.
