COLUMBIA, S.C. — As part of the University of South Carolina’s commitment to convert all of the school’s fleet to alternative-fueled vehicles by 2015, it is looking to partner with Ford, the Columbia City Council, and the federal Department of Energy to use a hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered bus to shuttle disabled students around campus for one year, reports The State.
The partnership, if successful, ensures the city of Columbia will have a user for its $1.2 million hydrogen fueling station. Columbia and USC have invested millions of dollars in hydrogen fuel cell research, with the goal of establishing the capital city as a hydrogen hub. For the full story, click here.
